SHAPE Cambridge provides free activity sessions to patients referred from Fulbourn Hospital, CAMEO and Locality Mental Health teams. During the 12-week programme participants are offered advice on nutrition and given other strategies for leading a healthy lifestyle as a way of offsetting their increased risk of developing Metabolic syndrome. With this in mind we initiated the Let’s Get Moving- Free Swimming Lesson programme which is specifically for people living with mental ill health, who are unable to work due to their condition. We’ve been taking longer lunch breaks, cycling on the quieter roads, as well as cycling along the Guided Busway. It has been so brilliant seeing Spring around us, whilst also getting to spend time together away from phones, laptops and the TV. Read more
