Living Sport, organised a free family event in Stanley Park (formerly Stanley Rec) in Peterborough yesterday, bringing cricket, football, badminton and a bouncy castle to the Park for families to enjoy. Around 100 people attended the event, which was the first in a series of three events running on consecutive Mondays in August.

Stanley Park has in recent years become known locally for anti-social behaviour, but in an effort to turn this around, Peterborough City Council has been investing in the Park, improving lighting and paths, installing football goals and an outdoor gym, and commissioning artwork. As part of this regeneration, we offered to support a series of events to promote the Park through the summer holidays.

Steve, Josh and Charlotte from Living Sport caught up with Vivacity (Peterborough Leisure) staff whilst enjoying the sunshine at Stanley Park.

Steve Harknett, Partnerships Coordinator at Living Sport, said: ‘Stanley Park is a convenient, city-centre green space in Peterborough and we want to show that it’s a safe place, suitable for events for families to come and have fun getting active.’ He added that there has been good collaboration with the local authorities to ensure that the Park was clean and safe for the event.
