Living Sport were thrilled to support latest inclusive event held at Witchford Sports Centre. The event funded by Sport England’s National Lottery Together Fund was run in partnership with the Ability PLUS group, is aimed at families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to enjoy activities together.

Families enjoyed 2 hours for fun with plenty of choice for sports and games to play together in the sports hall, while outside there was Football, provided by Cambs FA, Cricket, provided by Cambridgeshire Cricket and Tennis coaching by Ely Tennis club.

Following 2 previous successful school holiday events, in Huntingdonshire and Fenland, Living Sport and the Ability PLUS group responded to feedback from parents via Pinpoint (the Cambridgeshire organisation helping parents of children with additional needs and disabilities) to provide something in East Cambs.

The aim of the morning, taking learning from previous events and feedback was to provide a relaxed opportunity for families to get active together whatever the needs of their children but also to have the chance to take a break, enjoy a drink and chat to others. We also took the opportunity to chat about what activities are needed locally or might already be happening to help us make connections and develop more inclusive options so that everyone can get active in a way that suits them.

One family said it “6 out of 5 or 11 out of 10, what a wonderful event, thank you so much”

Ability PLUS group supported by Living Sport will be running three further in events like this one in other locations across the county in up coming school holidays so keep an eye on information to book soon.
